Question on Microphones / Recording instrumentals - 2007/01/06 08:55
I'm looking to buy a microphone to record trumpet and saxophone tracks. Main use would be for live gigs and homestudio recordings (so preferably not a $500 microphone would excellent quality but more a $150 mic with still a good sound). As I have no experience in this field, what brands of microphones are you guys recommending?

how about the "shure SM 57"? That's an allround live microphone for instruments at around 120$

Also the shure beta 58 is a decent option.

both one of a brand called "Samson" (was recommended by the people at Music Centre in Leuven), haven't had the chance to test it yet
